Robb Modica will has been named Commissioner of the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) as the league enters its final season of play. Modica takes over for Louise McCleary who left her position as the Elms College Athletics Director to join the NCAA national office as the Director of Division III Governance.
Modica has served as the NEWLA Sports Communication Cooridnator for the past six years and is currently the Assistant Commissioner for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC).
Founded in the Fall of 1998, the NEWLA is a single sport conference comprised of nine NCAA Division-III institutions in New England. They are Becker College, Bridgewater State University, Elms College, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University.
Following the 2012 season, the nine members will begin play within their primary conferences. Seven will play as part of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and two will compete within the NECC.
